Absence from Work
Employees may be absent from work for a variety of reasons with or without pay. It is the employee's responsibility to notify his/her supervisor and the Northeast Data Office, of an impending absence. Absences may be paid as PTO when the provisions for PTO leave are met. All absences not covered by a specific paid absence policy automatically become unpaid absences.
* Note: Employees must utilize all PTO time prior to being allowed to take unpaid absences. If a time card is submitted to the Northeast Data office without time applied to the day off, the Northeast Data Operations Department reserves the right to automatically apply PTO leave time to the date in question, not to exceed the time off allotment schedule for the employee.
- Reporting Absences
In the event of an unexpected absence, employees are required to notify their supervisor, and the Northeast Data Office, no later than one (1) hour prior the beginning of the scheduled workday. A time off allotment form must be completed and signed by your immediate manager in order to utilize a PTO day to cover the missed work day.
- Excused Absences
Excused absences are absences approved by the supervisor and are paid by the company. The absence may be paid as PTO / vacation / or bereavement leave. Supervisors may require a doctor's statement when PTO leave pay is requested for absences when an employee is ill. "Personal" PTO leave pay is granted only with supervisory consent and, except in emergencies, requires prior notice to the supervisor.
- Unexcused Absence
Any unexcused absence is an absence not approved by the supervisor or an absence that is taken with out any pay. No pay is received for any unexcused absence and an unexcused absence may lead to disciplinary action up to termination. Any employee with 3-unexcused absences will be terminated from employment at Northeast Data, Inc.
- Extended Absence
Any employee who will be absent from work for a full pay period or longer must immediately notify the appropriate supervisor and request permission for said absence. The employee should also contact the Operations Department to discuss potential leave of absence options.
Absences without pay, covering a full pay period or more, must be covered by an approved leave of absence.
- Discipline for Excessive Absences
Excessive absences, whether excused or unexcused, may result in disciplinary action. Disciplinary action is covered by Northeast Data's Rules of Conduct.
